Bipolar disorder can look very different on different people. Symptoms vary in their pattern, severity, and frequency. Some people are more prone to either mania or depression, while others alternate equally between the two types of episodes. Symptoms of Mania phase of Bipolar Disorder are as follows:
- Excessive excited.
- Irritability so irritable.

- Feel rich or have more ability than others.
- Full of ideas and a new spirit.
- Quickly move from one idea to another.
- Hearing voices that other people can not hear.
- Increased sexual appetite.
- Develop a plan that does not make sense.
- Very active and move very quickly.

- Spending money.

- Feel very familiar to others.
- Easy to throw criticism of others.
- Difficult restraint in everyday behavior.

Signs and Symptoms of Hypomania
Hypomania is less severe form of mania. People in a hypomanic state feel happy, energetic, and productive, but they were able to continue their daily life and never lost touch with reality. For others, it may seem as though people with hypomania are just in the mood amazingly good. However, hypomania can lead to poor decisions that jeopardize relationships, career, and reputation. Additionally, hypomania is often increased to full mania and sometimes can be followed by episodes of severe depression.
Hypomania phase are similar to mania, the difference is the people who are at this stage feel more calm seemed to have returned to normal and did not experience hallucinations and delusions. Hypomania difficult to diagnose because it looks like ordinary happiness, but it carries the same risks with mania. The symptoms of hypomania in bipolar disorder stages are as follows:
- Vibrant and full of energy with the emergence of creativity.
- Be optimistic, always seemed happy, more active, and quick to anger.
- Decreased need for sleep.
Signs and Symptoms of Bipolar Depression
Symptoms of the depressive phase of bipolar disorder are as follows:
- The mood of gloom and sadness is prolonged.
- Often cry or want to cry for no apparent reason.
- Loss of interest in doing something.
- Not being able to feel the excitement.
- Easily tired, lifeless, limp.
- Difficulty concentrating.
- Feeling worthless and hopeless.
- Feelings of guilt and sin.
- Low self-esteem and lack of confidence.
- Assumed future bleak and pessimistic.
- Thoughts of suicide.
- Loss of appetite or overeating.
- Weight loss or weight gain.
- Difficulty sleeping, waking up early, or oversleeping.
- Nausea so it is difficult to speak because withstand nausea, dry mouth, constipation, and sometimes diarrhea.
- Loss of sexual desire.
- Avoid communication with others.
Signs and Symptoms of Mixed Episodes
This episode is a mixture of both bipolar disorder features symptoms of mania or hypomania and depression. Common signs include depression episodes mixture is combined with agitation, irritability, restlessness, insomnia, distractibility, and kites mind (flight of ideas). The combination of high energy and low mood of patients at high risk for suicide.
In the context of bipolar disorder, mixed episode (mixed state) is a condition in the current phase of mania and depression occur together. At some point, the patient might feel excessive energy, can not sleep, emerging ideas that ply the head, aggressive, and panic (mania). However, a few hours later, the situation turned into the opposite. Patients feel tired, desperate, and so negative about the surrounding environment. It happened alternately and repeatedly in a relatively quick time. Alcohol, drugs, and drugs antipedresan often consumed by people while on this epiode. Mixed episode could be the most dangerous episodes of bipolar disorder sufferers. In this episode, most people have a desire to commit suicide because of exhaustion, despair, delusions, and hallucinations. The symptoms shown if the patient will commit suicide are as follows:
- Always talking about death and the desire for death to people in the vicinity.
- Have personal views about death.
- Consuming excessive drugs and alcohol.
- Sometimes forget the debt or bills such as electricity and telephone bills.
